HW 12

the best thing it can tell more about impact of information

it's in this website :  http://www.apu.ac.jp/~jse/lec4.htm

HW 11

1) One of the main areas that I am mostly concerned is the food industry and how robots could be used to do the smart work of testing the various crops from any kind of damage and how they could smartly check if the crop is growing right or not. This would be really great as if we are self sufficient in the food system then there would be no problem. Specially these kinds of robots could also be used in the labs for testing various kinds of chemicals that are bieng used and how they could be used for testing other stuff which could create food poison. These kinds of robots have intelligent system like our taste buds and help in calculating the chemical composition in it.
2) I would consider this as an extention to the 3rd question of the previous home work. I talked there about how robots would be used for future home’s. There were certain things that I missed and I would like to put light here. We are mostl concerned if the home is clean or not. We can include that in future home’s the windows would be blocking the harmful ultraviolent radiation and would help in displaying temperature of the outside and this would help in adjusting the internal temperature accordingly. The future home’s would not be too tall so that it would conflict with the thunder storms but a smart way of using the space efficiently.

HW 10

1) Upon asking the various different kind of people about the future of building, I got to see many videos in which how robots are replacing human in term of building huge sky scrapers. There is a large role being played by the robotics industry for creating various types of cranes in terms of constructions. Various kinds of smart houses and equipments that are being used has a lot of robotic features and the introduction of the bots have take this too far.
2) A well organized power point presentation will be delivered from my side explaining the various phases humans have forecasted the future of buildings and sky scrapers and how they have been implemented. I would discuss about my interest in this topics and describe the materials used about conducting the various surveys in this regard. Then I will present my own analysis about this topic and show various resources that I have used to come to this conclusion.
I will also show various kinds of theories being used for future buildings .
Also I will be pointing to the various industries that are researching on this topics and how all could be integrated to give a better view of the future. Finally there would a question and answer session for answering about my topic.
3) One thing I would like to discuss this time is about the internal part of the future buildings and how various smart equipments would be used inside the house like automatic oven, stove and iron machine. The intelligent bed system that would adjust to temperature and how automatic system could be used for saving electricity by understanding the human behavior and just turning on the lights in only those areas where there is humans. One of the other thing that I am trying to stress here is about how the smart construction is related with the medical field. In the restrooms the introduction of the smart commot systems could help in testing the urine and sending a direct report about the output to their personal doctor and the introduction of smart devices in the clothes so that it could track the heart beat of the patient and send a warning signal to the doctor about the condition.
There are various other things like starting and stopping the iron, stove or other appliances by just using the cellphonefrom a remote place and how this could be possible by the use of smart microprocessor sytems. Even the future home’s would have pollution detecting system that would be directly related with that departent so that any kind of pollution would be immeidately handled. There would smart way of water and drainage system and not to forget the electrical system too as this would really help in designing safe home’s for the future. A final thing that I would like to touchup this time is the disaster handling system that are being implemented today on huge monuments and this could be used on future home’s also.

HW 9

Q1) I can give a very good answer to prove my statement that there is no such thing as scientific proof. One of the reason to support this is that much of the science consists of hypothesis, which is not a clear and final answer but it is just a prediction based on assumption but we see soo many theories that is supported just by a hypothesis. Moreover there are many things science cannot answer and it just relies on theories that are mere hypothesis.
Q2) One of the thing that I had been doing research is about the existence of the antibiotic medicines that have come in the market. The interesting thing that I have learned that when the hybrid food was being brought into the market there was a large opposition from the medical indusry itself because of the harm this would cause. Every human body has an immune system that is continuously fighting with the diseases that arise in our body, what happens is that the person whose immune system gets to zero level would get aids i.e. acquired immuno deficiency syndrome, thus each of us have some level immune system working in our body. What happens is that the biotechnology could help in combining the genes from two crops to make a one better crop but what we lost here was the immune system that these fruits could provide us and the result is that the docts had togive antibiotics with every medicine they give no matter even if it is a small fewer because they know that the immune system is becoming less in the body. Thus the hybrid food was not widely accepted until the world was introduced about the antibiotic medicines.
Q3) Computers have surely helped us gained a lot but we have been severly hit from the side of privacy. That is why we see soo many virusus and malwares in the web, that there are large number of holes in the softwares that people write and that is the reason that its hard to protect of what is there in our computers no matter what and how secure we say to our self. For many of the software developers say that there is nothing called as software privacy and some smart programmer could easily hit even to the dark spots in our computer. And that’s the reason that software privacy is a big concern these days. After the emergence of facebook one could see how hard we had been hit on the privacy side.

HW 8

1. The way that I see 2100 is that a massive amount of expansion in terms of technological revolution that would sweep the mankind. But there are some of the important factors that needs to be addressed. One is that the environment is reaching its peak of disaster and its hard to predict of the worst consequences that would result in the future and more over the consumption of fuel at such a large scale in the previous and the present century would surely bring the manking to fell at the legs of natural ways of getting their things done. There would surely be some kind of bing problems based on the current readings but it wouldn’t happen eventually. Also when seeing the current situation about the oil leak and many more things like the fumes in europe, I feel that we would not be that capable of tackling such big problems, the only thing I suggest is to turn the mankind towards natural way of living rather than using the resources.

2. How this topic is related with my report about the buildings of the future survey is that in future due to the climatic changes there would be a change in preference of the people of the type of houses they want to live in. We see a huge variety of people with different views. The people who are much educated would more want to shift toward the renewal energy resources such as windmill and use of dynamo’s in generating energy. That is why we see a lot of educated people shifting towards the raw foods these days. There are other things also that related with my project here is that how secure the houses would be to avoid the various radiation that are there in the climate so that its safe inside the house.

HW7

Chasing the future is what I chose for spoil sports of prediction game. The main truth is that in the business decision we suually focus and aim at the short term payback but of course there is a long term planning which targets various horizons with minimum aim of 3 years. Even when we shirf our mind towards the political decisions, then we see that they too focus on short term plans and the reason I would give in support of this statement who say that democracy is the worst form of government except the one’s who had been tried.

But I would consider this as a biggest mistake of looking too far ahead of what we are today and destiny could be captured only one step at a time. Just even ordinary kind of people also look at short term plans as the animals themselves teach us the short term planning behavior. The only benefit I see in long term planning is that the further we go in predicting about our future the less likely we are right and thus, there is a higher risk that the effort spent preparing will end up wasted. But one thing needs to be kept in mind that just blindly focussing on just the near term would be just a too narrow vision, the risk I see in this term is that it’s a kind of risk in terms of failing to prepare as the future is approaching.

HW6

1) When I started doing research and collecting some of the information aimed towards asking the people about the future of the buildings, there were various very different kind of views regarding this subject and it was really hard to summarize the different views into one single statement.

HW 5

Robots have revolutionized surgery and still we see new innovations every day. But we need to accept that machines have had a huge impact on surgery and it was during 1991 that first time surgeons were allowed to control robots arms remotely from a console that provides a three dimensional image of proceedings. But there is a device being developed that can allow a surgeon to remotely control an endoscope while a patient is inside a magnetic resonance imaging machine as this would be able to give a real time image feedback during gastric procedures and prostate biopsies.
The future would be extreme miniaturization of tools, as well as developments in augmented reality, where visual displays show computer-generated images and information overlaid onto images of the real world. But we have to accept the fact that Robotic surgery is the future of medicine. Thus the great innovation would be that the robot will reduce in size and become more user-friendly or it can be said as more modular. Imagining these computer aided tools will become the norm for specific applications, especially those requiring very small incisions on small organs.
Surgery of the future will allow in increase in flexibility and position of the robotic arms used and will allow the surgeon to maneuver the tissues with increased degree of freedom which wil reduce the rate of infection as a result of which the patients take less time to recover. Many of the surgical procedures performed today using standard laparoscopic technique may be performed more quickly and easily using some of the most advanced surgical systems of future.

HW 4

The self healing technology that comes from the concept of the self-healing power of the animals and plants could be used to fix things like aeroplanes by themselves on the fly. Also this technology could further be used to point out minuscule holes to the mechanics after landing. Imagine if this thing is put in effect then we are not far that this technique could be used along with aeroplanes to wind turbines and also to the spaceships of the future. As we will be having most of such technology with embedded circulatory systems and some kind of epoxy resin that can bleed into the holes and cracks and then it fluoresce under the ultraviolet light and show up some kind of mark when there is any kind of inspection.
I personally believe that such a technology could be add a lot to the fiber-reinforced polymers which are lightweight and plastic based composites. Recently such polymers have been used as a protective layer of skin and the growing advancement of the aircraft technology, spacecraft, wind turbines would take it to much advanced levels.
According to some of the aerospace engineers there are many possibilities of certain parts of the aircraft to get damaged and most of the time they are undetectable to the eye. Often times the users of composites have taken a very long time in order to detect such kind of damages and worry about the growing of the damage areas on the aircraft if left undetected. Also I think that the renewable energy industry will also benefit a lot from such self healing surfaces.

HW 2

As we see our present generation computers contains transistors, wires and electricity. But this might not last for long as the next generation computers will not be using any of these but will shift towards atoms, fibers and light. We don’t need to be bothered as how its going to work but what needs to be considered is that are we getting our work done or not. Just imagine that while drinking water we accidently spill it on our present laptop, it will surely cost us like 700-800$ but the next generation computers will be safe from such problems.
But lets keep this aside and if we are still in our latest laptops then we can imagine how it might look when the computer becomes the size of a molecule and those computers are in front of us. Imagine the computers like everywhere and we are not able to see it due to its nano size bio computers and then researchers will be able to target specific areas inside the body. Further if we shift towards the next technology of it by using giant networks using those molecules size computers and start imagining huge networks in our clothes, in our house and in our car also. Then there would be computers all around and we don’t even need to give a single thought about them.
According to the research the quantum computer is a computer that makes direct use of the distinctively quantum mechanical phenomena to perform operations on data. As according the classical computer the amount of data is measured by bits but in the quantum computer, the data is measured by qubits.

HW 3 (flexible wings)

Imagine the planes having flexible wings like that of a bird as it is believed that it could add much more towards controlling the aircraft. Some years ago one of the research in NASA told that they are working towards that goal that a plane can bend and this could help in achieving a superior flight control which would like much to that of a bird. This will benefit the future planes to respond automatically by varying flight conditions and in enabling new benchmarks in terms of aerodynamics controlling.
Such kind of research had already started and is trying to explore the aerodynamic benefits that are being offered in these early times. Things like the wings having the property of deflecting whenever there is any kind of activation during the special leading and trailing edge control surfaces. According to some papers its said that even the Wright brothers also understood this principles and that was the reason they added the wing-warping property in their first plane to enable it to turn.
But the biggest question is that how could this be possible i.e. how can the automatic responses be generated based on the flight control. The answer is “sensors”, this will help in measuring the pressure over the entire surface of the wing and will help in giving signals to the actuators to direct it and this will help in increasing the aerodynamic efficiency.
What about the various applications of such a technology, in terms of military applications could help in providing better quality anti-radar stealth by using the surfaces and for the regular passenger could experience the new generation much smoother flights. But this would give rise to another research i.e. the shape of the aircraft would change in order to meet the requirements of the future!!
